Because we work with employers, we know when they are recruiting because they use our professional services to hire new people.
BRING YOUR RÉSUMÉ.
Because every job search starts with a good résumé, it is essential that you have one. It has to
represent who you are, your résumé must be (typed, no spelling
errors, clear and precise). To help you make a good first impression, our Resource Centres offer free:
- Access to a computer to write your resume
- Use of photocopier and printer
- Consultation of resume types
- Fax machines to send your resume directly to employers
- And other tools to help with your job search
2. COME AND CONSULT OUR JOB BOARD
At the Employment Services Centre, you will find a
bulletin board where we post jobs from our area and beyond. Very practical, this board keeps you updated on available jobs published every week.
3. USE YOUR NETWORK (PEOPLE YOU KNOW)
Let people around you know that you are looking for work. Don’t miss a chance to tell them you are searching for a job and what type of work you are looking for.
4. GO DOOR TO DOOR. SHOW UP AT BUSINESSES WHERE YOU WOULD LIKE TO WORK.
One of the best ways to look for work is to talk to employers on site. By doing this, you get a chance to make a good impression, which isn’t always possible with just a cover letter. A visit on site will show your initiative, your interest for the company and your determination to find work.
DON’T get discouraged with interesting postings that ask for a person with experience. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO THE JOB, APPLY FOR IT. Show enthusiasm to compensate for your lack of experience!
